Privacy and Identity Theft Services Summary Privacy Requirements and Risks All companies, regardless of size, that are involved in financial transactions or collect personal information from their customers, are required under a number of federal and state laws to keep customer information secure and establish and enforce information security programs. The risk of non-compliance of these laws is significant. Loss of a customer’s private information can cost a company thousands, if not millions of dollars in fines and penalties as well as legal fees to defend civil or criminal charges. In addition, the loss of a customer’s trust and a company’s reputation is immeasurable. Services Strategic Technology Services (STS) provides the following privacy and security-related services to corporate clients:
Company Summary Although security “standards” are required under federal legislation, the laws themselves do not describe how to implement or maintain an information security program. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has stated that all companies must take “reasonable steps” to maintain sensitive information, regardless of the size of the company. STS works with companies to develop comprehensive privacy programs to ensure that their information is secure and that they have documented processes and procedures in place. This approach is designed to mitigate their risk and protect their customers from the personal issues associated with data breaches and identity theft. STS can help a company to develop an effective company privacy policy that will protect the information and identities of its customers and employees and in the process, assist with compliance of current and future privacy and security laws.
