"I have known John Mehrmann for many years. Our business connection began in
2003 as I approached Toshiba Corporation to engage with our company, Service

Advocate is that they (or anyone else) didn't write and publish this book

"I read everything in the newsletter,
followed every link. While most of the information applied to me, I most
resonated to John Mehrmann's article Why People Buy. Though I offer a service
rather than a solid product, I loved everything he said. "Don't shout your
successes, your features or compare yourself to the competition." (paraphrased).
On my postcards it says, "It's about You. It's about your hair. Isn't it about
time?" Now I see insurance companies and a host of others using a similar set of
words. Customers want to know that their needs will be met and stylists know
deep down that they want to meet a client's needs. So bravo, John Mehrmann.
I also like what he wrote about web sites reflecting truth. My salon is relaxed,
decorated in a vintage French/Italian style with a few modern pieces for comfort
and durability. We serve every ethnicity and many of our clients come with
children who also receive services. While each stylist has their obvious
personality traits, we tease one another and talk about taboo subjects with one
another while the clients lead us and participate. Sometimes our laughter spills
out to the nearby stores. As a result many of our clients have become involved
in local politics. We like it this way. If we were to depict our salon on a
website as a place to relax, kick back, get pampered in luxurious settings, a
potential client might visualize a spa like setting with Yanni playing in the
background while the scent of rose dances around the space. If that's what they
expect to get from us, they will be disappointed before we begin our
consultation part of the service. So, bravo once again, John Mehrmann. Strong
advice."

I hope you’re doing well. I’ve been holding on to this because I wanted to let
you know that it really rang true for me. When I relocated to California in
1988, my first job was with the post-bankruptcy successor to Kaiser Steel Corp.
I learned quite a bit about Henry Kaiser and came to admire the enlightened
capitalism he embodied. I even traveled out to the old Eagle Mountain
mine, which the company to this day is still trying to convert into a trash dump
for LA. Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I read and enjoy the newsletter.

water as the waves crest around you can be a mighty big challenge.......like
